Welcome to China, a country with some of the best badminton players in the world. This is a country that has produced World Champions, Olympic medallists and have been the reckoning force when it comes to team events such as the Sudirman Cup and the Thomas & Uber Cup. And I am proud to be able to welcome every one of you to the PICC China Open 2005 so that we can all witness more great badminton. This six-star event attracts some of the top badminton players from around the world vying for the title as well as the prize money. I look forward to a memorable PICC China Open 2005 which will be played in Guangzhou. I would like to thank the Badminton Association of China, the sponsors and everyone for all their hard work in organising this tournament. I know that it will be a tremendous success to the players, the country and to badminton. Last but not least, good luck to the athletes. |
