羽协讯 The one-month 7 th Intake of BWF Guangzhou World Training Center was hold in Guangzhou Sports Training and Technical College from March 12 th , 2007 to April 6 th , 2007. There were 17 coaches and players in this intake and they were from Sri Lanka , Maldives and North Korea .

There was a big age-gap in this intake. The oldest player Hussain Mohamed Maujood (born in 1987) is 6 years older than the youngest player Mohamed Abdulla Juman (born in 1993). And the two youngest Maldives boys (Hammadh Ali & Mohamed Abdulla Juman) are much lower than the other men players in the level. This made it a little difficult for our coaches in making the main training program. After the 2 coaches had realized their level, they gave the 2 boys same special training contents.

The 6 boy players from Sri Lanka were very good and in a same level. They could always finish the training excellently and with a positive attitude. They are as good as the other 4 Sri Lanka players who had come in the 4 th Intake in September 2006. So we believe that badminton is developing well in Sri Lanka . Our coaches found that their physical condition was very good, very suited to badminton. Badminton is a potential sport in Sri Lanka . As the talk with the Sri Lanka coach Welagedara Kithsiri Asoka, we know that , now in Sri Lanka, badminton is becoming more and more popular and will be over cricket as the no.1 sport. The coach Malliyawadu Palitha Babdusiri De Silva who led the Sri Lanka team and took part in the 4 th Intake had brought the training program back to their country. The 4 players who had taken part in the 4 th Intake have done well in different matches. Now 64 U14 players from deferent places in Sri Lanka are following out the training programs from Guangzhou WTC every week. It's easy to imagine that Sri Lanka will be one of the strong badminton countries in the future.

The Maldives Team was led by their national badminton federation president Mr. Nashid Moosa. The 2 boy players Rasheed Mohamed Ajfan and Hussain Mohamed Maujood are in the same level as the 6 Sri Lanka boys. But the other 2 little boys had a big deference with them. This can show us the badminton situation in Maldives now as their coach Riyaz Hassan said. Badminton used to be the No.1 sport in Maldives and there were many good players. But now football is the No.1 and badminton has been paid not enough attention and many players have drained. And there are only 4 courts in the country. The new president Mr. Nashid Moosa this time came to Guangzhou is to inspect badminton in China and find out the new training and management patterns good for Maldives badminton.

The 4 players from North Korea were all girls. The same as all Korean athletes, they had a strong entrepreneurial spirit. They did excellently both in training and matches. It is worth mentioning that the player Sok Yun Jong. She had had her leg wounded before coming. But she insisted on finishing the whole month training and matches toughly. The coach Kim Song said the condition was very difficult in North Korea and all the sports were lack of resources. Their spirit was come to being in such difficult condition.

What impressed us most in this intake was that they were very disciplined no matter in training or in matches. Also they were united. The Sri Lanka Team and the Maldives Team were very familiar with each other. Some players had their birthday during this intake and they had a party with each other. They were warm and took good care of the North Korean girls even if they were in different colors and of different sexes.

They quickly adapted to the life in Guangzhou . There was no difficult for them in climate and diet. Following our notice, they could go to the downtown by buses. When day-off they enjoyed going shopping. We had organized them to go to Baiyun Mountain to have training and tourism as usual. And the last day-off, they all went to the carnie.

It was a successful intake. We, the whole staffs of BWF Guangzhou World Training Center , are being more and more experienced and doing the jobs better and better. For the coaches and players, it was good and a valuable experience. We can find they have had a good progress.
